    Day 1: Kruger National Park

Your group will be met at the airport and assisted with connection to domestic flight to Hoedspruit airport. On arrival there is a quick introduction and briefing, we pack the vehicle and head straight to our camp in the Kruger National Park. We enter the park at Orpen gate and game drive in our mini bus to Satara Camp, our base for the next 2 nights. All meals on tour are provided by and cooked by the guides.

    Day 2: Kruger National Park

We will spend a full day in the Kruger National Park starting with an early morning game drive, returning for lunch and then enjoying an afternoon game drive. We will use an open game drive vehicle for the game drives. We can also spend the full day game driving, as we will use a private open game drive vehicle hired for the full day, with an English speaking guide.

    Day 3: Kanha

We depart Satara after breakfast and game drive to Orpen gate in our mini bus. We then visit the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre; the centre cares for numerous injured, orphaned and poisoned animals from across South Africa. The animals are given any treatment they require and released back into the wild. In some cases the condition of the animals does not permit them to be released and they are then kept at the centre, cared for and used to educate visitors about the plight of South African wildlife. The centre also operates a breeding programme and has successfully bred and released endangered Crowned Eagles and Servals. After lunch we then transfer to the Timbavati Reserve, to our lodge for the next three nights. After settling in we head out into the bush for a game drive in an open 4 x 4 which will includes bird, tree, reptile, vegetation and mammal identification as sighted.

    Day 4: Kruger Private Reserves

Today we take part in the White Rhino Conservation project. The proper identification of White Rhino is very important and vital to the conservation of this species in the Greater Kruger National Park. This area now contributes to 160 000ha of wildlife, which is open to the Kruger National Park. The White Rhino project is a huge task and also a costly one. There is an estimated population of 130 White Rhino in this area and this project aims at notching and inserting microchips in every single one. This is an ideal opportunity to sponsor and be directly involved in this conservation effort. We will wake up very early in the morning and drive through the bush to meet the management team from Klaserie Nature Reserve and Dr Peter Rogers, of Provet Wildlife Veterinary Services. Dr Rogers will give a detailed explanation of the proceedings and also assign duties to each member of the group.

    The project involves:

    • Chemical Immobilization of a White Rhino
    • Participating in the ground work
    • Following darted Rhino through the Bush on an open 4x4 game viewing vehicle
    • Monitoring anaesthetized Rhino’s vital signs
    • Inserting of Microchips and Ear notching
    • Reversing anesthetic and waking up of Rhino

We then enjoy a brunch out in the bush before returning to our lodge for a relaxing afternoon to recover from the early morning start. In the late afternoon we will go on a sunset game drive returning to the lodge after dark.

    Day 5: Kruger Private Reserves

This morning we will go on an early morning game walk and explore this area on foot, with a very good chance of seeing a wide variety of animals. We return to our lodge for lunch. In the late afternoon we will then head out on an open game drive vehicle for a game drive.
